D’Literati, the organization of English majors of the College of Education of the South La Union Campus, conducted its first virtual English festival from the third until the seventh of May with the theme: “Celebrating Diversity and Promoting English Proficiency in the New Normal through Talents and Skills”.

High school students from La Union and Pangasinan showcased their talents as they participated in the contests organized by the organization-Dramatic Monologue, Essay Writing Contest, Flash Fiction Writing, Meme Wars, and Sonnet Poetry Writing.

Caroline Riesa O. Laminatao of Manaoag National High School was declared the winner for Dramatic Monologue. Meanwhile, Natasha Ann A. Marañon from Manaoag National High School bagged gold in the Essay Writing Contest. Then, Rhea F. Dionisio from San Jose National High School landed first place in Flash Fiction Writing. In Meme Wars, Paolo Yaranon of San Jose National High School was proclaimed as the winner. While, Russle Alex Teñoso from Manaoag National High School was the Sonnet Poetry Writing champion.

In addition, Manaoag National High School was the over-all champion in the festival, followed by San Jose National High School, and Juan G. Macaraeg National High School.

“The first-ever Virtual English Festival in the history of the D’Literati was an amazing experience for the organization officers, members, advisers, and participants from La Union and Pangasinan. We, the English majors of the College of Education, showed teamwork and cooperation to make this event successful. Hence, the English festival united us as one,” Joshua C. Garcia, D’Literati President said.
