Agoo, La Union — The 7th Madonna and Child Conferment Ceremony of the College of Community Health and Allied Medical Sciences (CCHAMS) was held at the JDA Hall today September 27, 2023 .

The event commenced with a processional and the singing of the national anthem and doxology by the DMMMSU Chorale. Welcome remarks from Mr. Jiyger Pre, the SLUC Human Resource Management Officer, followed this.

Dr. Racquel Quiambao, representing Dr. Joanne C. Rivera, delivered an inspirational message.

“Here in DMMMSU, we emphasize a well-rounded curriculum that marries scientific inquiry with ethical considerations,” Dr. Quaimbao conveyed. She urged students to renew their commitment to becoming compassionate healthcare providers, focusing on sustainable solutions.

Following Dr. Quiambao’s remarks, the ceremony’s guest of honor and speaker, Rev. Fr. Carlo Emil N. Boado, a CCHAMS alumnus from the 2010 batch, took the podium. In his speech, he emphasized the importance of serving the community and protecting mothers and the unborn. “The highest prize in the midwifery profession is not money but ensuring the health of the mother and child,” he said. Rev. Fr. Boado added that midwifery is a vocation and practitioners should be motivated by love and service. He concluded by urging attendees to “protect and preserve lives unconditionally.” (By Zander Christopher Mercado)
