DMMMSU students brought home top three awards in cake decoration during the  11th La Union Provincial TESDA Skills Competition open category held at the La Union Provincial Capitol Grounds, City of San Fernando, La Union on February 27, 2020.

Gwyn Villanueva (BSE TLE) won gold in cake decoration, while Kert Kevin C. Delim (BSIT major in Food Trades Industrial Technology) won silver, and Creselda Ledesma (BTLed) won bronze. They are from the South La Union Campus (SLUC), Mid La Union Campus (MLUC), and North La Union Campus, respectively. They were also coached by Dr. Veronica Carbonell, Prof. Criselda V. Nisperos, and Prof. Mayeth Navasca, respectively.

Another student from the College of Education of the South La Union Campus, particularly the College of Education, brought home gold from the said competition last year, keeping a back-to-back win.   

On the other hand, Lar Laroco Cacanando (BSE TLE), placed 3rd in fruit and vegetable carving, and Larce Clarence Emperador (BSE TLE) placed 5th in table skirting. These two students, Cacando, and Emperador, from the College of Education at the South La Union Campus, were coached by Mr. Tristan June I. Olarte, and Mr. Vladimir Joy C. Cariaso, respectively.

Being freshies in the competition, the two young coaches are determined to bring home golds from the same competition next year.

The 11th La Union Provincial TESDA Skills Competition was part of 170th Anniversary Celebration of the Province of La Union. Students competed in two categories: world (IT related skills) and open (food and home technology skills).

DMMMSU students bested other students from other Higher Education Institutions and Vocational Schools in La Union. (ayu)
