DMMMSU through its President, Dr. Jaime I. Manuel, Jr., joined in the signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) among six State Universities and Colleges that constitute the Technical Working Group (TWG) which will work on the formation of the Consortium of Open and Distance Education Institutions in the Philippines.

The MOU signing was held at University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU) Headquarters in Los Baňos, Laguna, February 20, 2020, when UPOU celebrated its 25th anniversary.

The six universities are the following: 1) DMMMSU, 2) UPOU, 3) Benguet State University, 4) Central Luzon State University, 5) Ifugao State University, and 6) Mariano Marcos State University. 

The TWG identified areas of cooperation among the consortium members which include, among others, the following: 1) academic collaboration with focus on distance education (DE), 2) capacity building of faculty and staff, 3) international collaboration, and 4) international accreditation. 

The formation of the consortium was propelled during a round table discussion in the National Conference on Open and Distance eLearning held at Baguio City on November 2019. (Ces Mabalot)
