
To promote innovation culture and to strengthen the capacity and capability of DMMMSU in the field of metalworking, the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) granted DMMMSU an 18M-fund for the establishment of Metals and Engineering center at the Mid La Union Campus.
This project is in consonance with DOST’s mandate to provide central direction, leadership and coordination of scientific and technological efforts and ensure that the results therefrom are utilized in areas of maximum economic and social benefits for the people in the Cordillera Administrative Region, and Regions I, II, III, and X.
DMMMSU reaffirms, through this project, one of its goals – to generate and disseminate appropriate knowledge and technologies that help promote sustainable resource development.
Machines and tools in the Center will be used in the conduct of intensive trainings for identified faculty members on machine design, fabrication, and other areas, and of research and development, consultancy and collaborations with the M&E firms, universities connected with the Regional Research and Development consortia, and with other potential users in the region.
