The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) has allocated for DMMMSU 12.M pesos for upskilling of its faculty members and nonteaching personnel for FY 2021.

To ensure 100 percent utilization of the budget given to DMMMSU at the end of the year, faculty members and nonteaching personnel from various units of the University were asked to prepare training designs which were presented during the “Meeting Cum Workshop on Faculty and Staff Development Activities” held at the International Convention Center at the North La Union Campus, Bacnotan, La Union on February 9, 2021.

In her statement of purpose, Dr. Estrella N. Perez, VP for Administration underscored that the Learning and Development Activity was conducted in order to:

  • Review the training designs submitted to determine their relevance,
  • Establish/develop strategies for the entire University to benefit from the learning and development investment,
  • Establish synergy to maximize the implementation of planned efforts,
  • Manage the allotted learning and development budget to arrive at the desired budget utilization results, and
  • Develop champions among the faculty and staff to eventually improve customer satisfaction.

Mr. Dexter P. Licay, University Chief Accountant was invited to help explain matters on budget utilization related to the trainings to be conducted.

Morever, Dr. Honorio C. Buccat, VP for Academic Affairs, in his inspiring message, emphasized that “when everyone marches together, success is ensured”.

President Jaime I. Manuel, Jr., on the other hand, encouraged the Chairs, Deans, and the proponents of training designs to judiciously utilize the budget while emphasizing that 70 percent of the budget shall have been utilized by the end of September this year. He further jested that after the series of trainings provided for them, he expects that all employees of DMMMSU will become their best.The 66 proponents bringing into the venue nearly 200 training designs were clustered into various groups according to topics for presentation, critiquing, and final packaging of training designs for President Manuel’s approval. They were advised to invite prestigious learning service providers from the country. (Ayu)
