As the world faces new challenges brought by the impact of pandemic in education, health and livelihood of Filipinos, the demand for high quality research and outputs is rising.
For this reason, DMMMSU launched a three-day training workshop entitled, “Training-Workshop on Methods and Data Processing of Quantitative Researches”, last April 27, 28 and 30, 2021.

Dr. Raquel D. Quiambao, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences (SLUC) and Dr. Raul B Sampaga, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences (NLUC), headed the said event with the combined efforts of the faculty and staff of the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) of South La Union and North La Union Campuses.
The three-day training was facilitated by Prof. Paolo G. Hilado, director of Research and Planning of Colegio San Agustin. Day one focused on the methods of quantitative research while the second day dealt with the in-depth lecture and workshop on Statistical tools for quantitative research such as Chi-square Test of Independence, Mann-Whitney U Test, Kruskal-Wallis H Test, Paired-Samples T-test, One-Way ANOVA and regression. The third day was dedicated for hands-on activities for the in-person attendees.
Through the training-workshop, the participants were upskilled on quantitative research methods, appropriate statistical tools in analyzing quantitative data, and became more adept in the use of SPSS in carrying our statistical processes used in research.
“This training served like a crash course. I learned a lot and enjoyed the hand-on activities,” Ms. Merly Sioco, one of the attendees quipped during a quick exchange.
A total of 106 participants attended the training which was simultaneously conducted via Zoom and Google meet.
