The Department of Agriculture (DA) through Secretary William D. Dar presented DMMMSU 10-million worth of funds for its establishment of Swine Multiplier and Technology Demonstration Farm. Dr. Chester S. Libong, Manager of DMMMSU Pig Extension and Research Farm (DPERF) received the check at Sta. Barbara, Pangasinan on May 26, 2021 during their MOA signing.

This project which is under the National Livestock Program (NLP) Stimulus Project Package I of the Bayanihan Act II intends to contribute in the improvement of genetic make-up of productive gilts/sows and in the supply of safe and nutritious pork through the annual production of finishers; to provide a venue for trainings, extension, and learning of farmers, students, and interested individuals; and to support DA and other government agencies’ swine-based livelihood programs by producing adequate and quality stocks to supply these programs’ needs.

It benefits the government livestock technicians and extensionists; agricultural teachers of State Colleges and Universities; farmer leaders of agri-based people’s organization, small and medium-scale pig farmers; animal feed/drug technical personnel, veterinarians, students of veterinary and agricultural schools, colleges and universities. It will also indirectly benefits the feed millers, corn growers, meat processors middlemen, consumers, pig raisers and other stakeholders of the industry. (Ayu)
