DMMMSU through the University Extension Office (UEO) completed 68 capability building activities during the first half of the year (January 2021 to June 2021). These trainings conducted via limited face-to-face and virtual meets catered 17,294 individuals entire the Philippines.

The combined efforts of the 397 faculty- and 87 staff/non-teaching-extension workers in the University, and the full support of the DMMMSU administration headed by President Jaime I. Manuel, Jr., are keys in exceeding the first and second quarters, and even the overall CY 2021 physical targets of the UEO in terms of the number of trainees (10,250) weighted by the length of training, and number of extension programs (60) organized/supported consistent with the SUC’s mandates and priority programs, which were set to be achieved by December 31, 2021 but already attained during the first half of the year.

These accomplishments were anchored in the 90 on-going agency and externally funded extension programs/projects/activities of the six operating units (as of June 30, 2021). NLUC records the highest number (33) of on-going agency funded followed by SLUC and MLUC. On the other hand, externally funded works are being implemented by NLUC, SLUC and SRDI. There were 42 extension outputs disseminated/presented in local fora/conferences/exhibits. These initiatives resulted in 80 research-based technologies adopted by the clients and 105 active collaborations with LGUs, industries, NGO/As, SMEs, and other stakeholders through Memoranda of Agreement/Understanding.

To improve community and industry services, the University extension workers also participated in 44 upskilling programs/scholarship/trainings ranging from local to international levels. Supportive of DMMMSU’s gender and development (GAD) plans, the UEO also recorded four conducted/facilitated and 31 attended GAD-related activities.

During the July 2, 2021 meeting spearheaded by the office of the University Research and Extension (URE), Vice President Cynthia M. Rodriguez enjoined the Campus/Operating Unit R&E Heads and Facilitators to further encourage active involvement of all faculty and staff in RDE activities. VP Rodriguez explained that proposals shall be prepared in accordance with the following:
