November 12, 2021 marks another historic day for DMMMSU as Mr. Shahid Mushtaq of W3 Solutions expressed his affirmation of DMMMSU’s compliance in ISO 9001:2015 standards. This first surveillance audit covering 24 processes under instruction, research, extension, and support services ran from November 8 to 12.

Surveillance audit has the following objectives:

  1. Gain confidence that the University’s management system has continued to fulfill requirements between recertification audits;
  2. Ensure that any findings raised during the previous audit have been satisfactorily addressed;
  3. Assess performance of legal compliance; review progress of planned activities aimed at continual improvement; ensure continuing operational control; review any changes since the last visit;
  4. Assess the organization’s implementation of previously determined processes or approaches to periodically review the factors that are involved in the context of the organization and the needs and the expectations of external and interested parties;
  5. Assess the organization’s implementation of change to the Management System seen as necessary as a result of any changes identified in the context of the organization and the needs and expectations of the external and interested parties;
  6. Assess the organization’s implementation of internal audit and management review activities and the implementation of change arising from any identified needs for improvement of the management system;
  7. Assess the organization’s implementation, monitoring and realization of documented objectives and associated plans and the establishment of further objectives that are relevant to the organization’s context and performance levels; and
  8. Assess the extent and effectiveness of implementation of the Management System of a representative sample of all areas, activities, functions of the organization as defined within the documented scope of the organization and as identified within the applied for scope of certification. The representative sample shall ensure that all areas, activities, functions of the organization shall be assessed at least once over the surveillance routines within the period of validity of the certification.

During the closing meeting, Mr. Shahid Mushtaq underscored that “the administration is very committed in the implementation of quality management system.” He also commended the IQA auditors for “doing a fantastic job managing various campuses in the University.”

Meanwhile, in his message, President Manuel expressed his gratitude to all employees of DMMMSU, making special mention of the four Vice Presidents, the Chancellors and the Executive Directors for doing a great job in leading every unit, and encouraging them to contribute towards achieving victory; that is, passing the ISO Surveillance visit.

“You were not without fear, or worry, or anxiety. But you chose to stand your ground, like soldiers sealed with a NEVER-SAY-DIE spirit. There is no substitute to employees like you who demonstrate commitment, courage, and consistency,” he added as he addressed all employees who have been consistently working hard and committed to helping sustain the Quality Management System of the University.

Dr. Estrella N. Perez, VP for Administration and the University’s ISO Manager, concluded the closing the meeting, and extended her appreciation for Mr. Shahid Mushtaq for his patience, kindness, and honest evaluation.  (Ayu)
