Paglingap. Pagbangon. Pag-asa.

The College of Education of DMMMSU-Mid La Union Campus initiated its Tugon Tulong program to assist the identified student beneficiaries from the selected municipalities of the Province of La Union that were seriously affected by Typhoon Maring last October 11.

According to Dr. Cedric Anthony E. Ochoco, the Dean of the College, the project is a commitment of service to the students of the Institution. Dr. Ochoco explained that the program “…is all about our continuing advocacy in support of our students. It’s  “Tugon Tulong” a Response to Help our students across our programs who were hit severely by typhoon Maring.”

In collaboration with various participating institutions and individual donors, the College raised funds to aid the 60 identified student-beneficiaries, from the towns of San Juan, Balaoan, Luna, and Bangar, who need immediate assistance, including food, water, among other necessities.

The Dean thanked the generosity of the sponsors and partners of the program, including DMMMSU CET High School Alumni Association Batches 1990 and 1998, BEEd Alumni, CE Faculty and Staff, and LINK, Inc.

Dean Ochoco also mentioned that this activity aimed at uplifting the spirit of the students and their respective families amid the challenges they faced.

“It was a fulfilling moment to be able to share what we have with our students and the time to see and be with them was really great. Amid any crisis is a beautiful response to uplift and support one another,” Dean Ochoco mentioned.

“The College of Education Tugon Tulong Relief Drive and Operation embraced (Paglingap) our student beneficiaries to stand up and rise (Pagbangon) for there is always hope (Pagasa) to continue to live our mission,” Dr. Ochoco concluded.

The College of Education team, together with the selected faculty members and staff, took the opportunity of the academic break to prepare and distribute the relief goods to the Maring victims, October 28. (Jericho Q. de Leon)
