The College of Arts and Sciences’ BA Communication III students, enrolled in CORC301a: Organizational Communication class organized and hosted a webinar titled, ‘Top COMMents: Green Lights and Red Lights of Leadership and Communication” on November 5, 2021.

Mangaldan  LGU  Councilor, Mr. Aldrin O. Soriano, and the senior high school, college, and TESDA Director of International Colleges for Excellence Inc., Engr. Francis Marvin I. Lim, served as resource speakers in the webinar. Participants come from DMMMSU and other Universities such as Sorsogon State University, Marinduque State University, Universidad de Manila, Bicol University, Don Honorio Ventura State University, Philippine Institute of Industrial Engineering, Our Lady of Fatima University, Quezon City University, Lyceum of the Philippines University, Urdaneta City University, Pangasinan State University- Urdaneta and Eulogio “Amang” Rodriguez Institute of Science and Technology.

 Councilor Soriano discussed “Communication and Government Monitoring: Role of Organizational Communication Towards Crisis Recovery” during the first session.  “Kailangan ang aktibo at pro-active na pakikilahok sa pamamahala ng gobyerno dahil hindi sapat na ang mga opisyal lamang ang gagalaw”, he stressed when asked about the importance of the people’s feedback and social media engagements as a tool in community-building.

His talk was filled with an in-depth view of how communication bridges the people and the government. He also discussed relevant terminologies such as organization, social media, social media monitoring, sentiment analysis, and local government unit.

Meanwhile, Engr. Lim talked about “Communication and Leadership in the Midst of Pandemic” during the second session. He shared his experiences and discussed the Seven Deadly Sins in Communication namely: gossip, judging, negativity, complaining, exaggeration, excuses, and lying. He also talked about leadership.
