The National Apiculture Research, Training, and Development Institute (NARTDI) trained a total of 91 beekeeping enthusiasts during its 3-day webinar training on beekeeping on January 22-24, 2022.

Topics during the three-day webinar include Honeybee Biology; Beekeeping Tools, Equipment, and Hive Construction; Hive Management; Honeybee Pests and Diseases Management; Bee Pasture Development and Pollination; Honeybee Products and By-Products; and The Economics of Beekeeping.
Dr. Delwin D. Capuyo, a faculty member of Central Mindanao University- College of Veterinary Medicine expressed his thanks to NARTDI for organizing a free webinar on beekeeping.
“The webinar is a good avenue to learn about beekeeping, especially that Apiculture Medicine is now included in the new curriculum of Veterinary Medicine,” Dr. Capuyo said.
Meanwhile, Mr. Erwin Eschavez, who is based in the United States, highlighted that the learnings he gained from the 3-day webinar will help him to start his beekeeping when he will go back to Misamis Occidental.
Mr. George T. Bondot, Division Chief for Extension and Development, assured that the Institute is now ready to expand the limited face-to-face training and webinars this year.
“Series of beekeeping trainings are already plotted for the coming months and we are expecting that the total number of our participants this year will surpass the figure last year,” he added.
Dr. Gregory B. Viste, Executive Director of NARTDI, said that the number of participants in the said webinar is the highest so far among the bee-keeping training-webinars conducted.
The participants in the said webinar represent various stakeholders such as academe, students, beekeepers, farmers, Overseas Filipino Workers, and agriculturists. (Lester Orpilla)
