The National Apiculture Research Training and Development Institute (NARTDI) accommodated the project team from Laguna State Polytechnic University (LSPU) for a 3-day Basic Beekeeping Training at the NARTDI Conference Hall on March 7-9, 2022. The training is part of the collaborative project of DMMMSU NARTDI and LSPU titled “Apiculture: An Alternative Source of Income to Enhance the Livelihood of Women Farmers in Laguna”.

The team was composed of Dr. Ruby B. Brion, Director for Gender and Development; Prof. Angela L. Reginaldo, Director for Extension and Training Services; Dr. Janice Sandoval; Prof. Cecile Gatbonton; Engr. Neil James Noval; Prof. Michelle Flores; and Dr. Mary Ann Hernandez.

Dr. Brion expressed her thanks to DMMMSU for sealing an agreement with LSPU for the implementation of the project. She underscored that they must be trained first as project implementers prior to the implementation the said project.

Meanwhile, NARTDI Executive Director, Dr. Gregory B. Viste assured the LSPU team that the Institute will provide ample support in the implementation of the project. “We hope that LSPU will soon become a satellite center of the Institute and be of help in promoting apiculture industry the country.” (Lester E.
