DMMMSU continues to expand its global presence and engagements with more institutions in Europe; this time, by strengthening its previous relationship with the University of Eastern Finland (UEF).

UEF Rector Dr. Jukka Mönkkönen and DMMMSU President Dr. Jaime I. Manuel, Jr. virtually signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on July 6, 2022; and same MoU was forwarded to the two institutions on August 4, 2022.
Since UEF’s launching of its operations in 2010, it has frequently appeared in several rankings. In 2020, UEF was ranked among the leading 401-500 universities in the world by the THE. In QS World University Rankings 2021, the university was among the leading 500 universities in the world (ranked #499), from its former ranking #267 in 2015, and #302 in 2012.
Both DMMMSU and UEF have established a good international reputation in research and instruction especially in sciences and nursing education.
Previously, DMMMSU and UEF collaborated with a nursing research involving faculty members in the College of Community Health and Allied Medical Sciences (CCHAMS-SLUC), and Ms. Anndra Dumo- Parviainen, an alumna and former faculty member of DMMMSU-SLUC, and now a research fellow in UEF.
In 2019, DMMMSU contingent went to UEF and had a series of fruitful meetings and lectures with key UEF officials with tours in the two campuses visiting state-of-the-art facilities including the Kuopio University Hospital.
At present, DMMMSU and UEF are working on their application for Erasmus+ Global Mobility. This refers to the mobility of students and staff between European higher educational institutions and non- European partner countries.
Both institutions are also collaborating on a research project entitled, “Effectiveness of web-based genomics nursing education: an RCT study”.
With shared expertise, this partnership renewal will enable both UEF and DMMMSU to foster a closer relationship as the MOU opens opportunities for mutual cooperation in curriculum development, scientific research and innovation and technology, and community service projects— including joint conferences, seminars, lectures and Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL).
