Universitas Kristen Indonesia (UKI) students enrolled in DMMMSU South La Union Campus were hosted for “culture and language on foot” sessions and were toured around La Union courtesy of the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) on November 16, 2022.

Focused on improving students’ English language abilities in an authentic fun-filled environment, DMMMSU and PGLU engaged the UKI students in interactive learning through historical and cultural exposures.

UKI students Petra Alexander Wuisan, Sunrise Tarigan, Adiranto Hia, Iman Sedia Harefa and Julyakin explored top tourist spots in the La Union.

With Mr. Randall Brioso, La Union Tour Guide, the Indonesian students visited Luna’s Baluarte Watch Tower, Bahay na Bato (Stone House), Kamay na Bato (Stone Art Gallery), Namacpacan Church, Paraoir Manmade Forest, Ma-cho temple and Pagoda Temple. They also toured around the Provincial Capitol.

During the sessions, UKI students were exposed to English oral practices which enabled them to engage in communicative activities and immersions. It also provided them with opportunities to practice the four communicative skills while allowing them to explore the beauty of La Union.

The session capped off with a quick visit to the DMMMSU Mid La Union Campus, where they interacted with their online classmates. This semester, 36 inbound students from UKI are virtually attending classes with DMMMSU faculty members. On the other hand, 14 DMMMSU students are virtually studying in UKI classes.

The UKI students were accompanied by Ms. Marjorie Toledo and Mr. Jericho Jay Abacco during the sessions.
