DMMMSU Agri-Aqua Technology Business Incubator (ATBI) as the Regional ATBI spearheaded the 1st Regional Agri-Aqua Technology Pitchfest and launching of Technology Portfolio 2023 at the International Convention Center on February 24, 2023.

Anchored in the theme UpRAISEing Technology Commercialization Through Regional Partnership and Collaboration, the event pooled together the six (6) State Universities and Colleges of Region 1 namely, Mariano Marcos State University, Ilocos Sur Polytechnic State College, Northern Luzon Philippines State College, University of Northern Philippines, and Pangasinan State University. Government Agencies (DOST, Department of Agriculture, BFAR, DTI, DENR, PhilRice, OPAG-La Union, OPAG-Pangasinan), eleven (11) exhibitors, twenty-six (26) potential investors, and DMMMSU Operating Units. This event is another milestone of DMMMSU through the RAISE Project 3.0-DMMMSU-ATBI to boost agri-aqua technology business incubation in Region 1 through collaboration, partnership, mentorship, and co-incubation with government and private institutions. 

Sixteen (16) technologies were pitched by technology generators and assigned pitchers from participating institutions. The technologies have corresponding entries for the Best Poster Contest. The panel of evaluators for the techpitch and best poster included Director Noel A. Catibog of Technology Transfer Promotion Division (TTPD), DOST-PCAARRD, Engr. Gee Jay C. Bartolome of Cavite State University ATBI, ARD Grace R. Lapastora, Assistant Director of Department of Trade and Industry-Region 1, and Mr. Xavier Mercado, President of Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PPCI)-La Union. The following are the winners in the TechPitch:

  • First place, Onion Harvester by Rosalinda L. Abad (DMMMSU)
  • Second place, Vacuum Packed Shelf Stable Classic Calamay by John Joseph Zarate /Jeferson Austria (PSU)
  • Third Place, Terminalia catappa by TerJennifer Chavez (ISPSC)
  • Fourth Place, Mulberry Candy by Mary Ann Ysabel Orpilla (DMMMSU)

Of the fifteen (15) posters, the following are the winners:  

  • First place, Vacuum Packed Shelf Stable Classic Calamay (PSU)
  • Second place, Candy Mato (MMSU)
  • Third place, Portable Vulcanizer (MMSU)

DMMMSU ATBI also launched the Technology Portfolio of Agri-Aqua technologies featuring DMMMSU and MMSU technologies with IPRs that have potential for commercialization. The digital portfolio was conceptualized by DMMMSU ATBI as information material that highlights the brief description of agri-aqua technologies with a corresponding business model canvass that provides market potentials and profitability.

The RAISE-1 Project 3.0 titled “Boosting Agri-Aqua Technology Business Incubation in DMMMSU and MMSU through the RAISE (Regional Agri-Aqua Innovation System Enhancement) Program” is funded by DOST-PCAARRD with Prof. Victoria N.
