52 units of blood were collected during the blood-letting activity held at Balay ti Alumni on April 1, 2023. The event was organized by the Civic Welfare Training Service (CWTS) unit in collaboration with Philippine Red Cross, La Union Chapter during their Mobile Blood Donation.

This event was a way to raise awareness about the need for regular blood donations. The collected blood will be used to treat patients with various medical conditions, including cancer, anemia, and other blood disorders.

The event was a huge success as volunteer CWTS students from BS in Business Administration (BSBA), BS in Psychology (BSP), Batsilyer ng Sining sa Filipino (BSF), AB English Language (BAEL), AB Pol Sci (BAPoS), and BS in Industrial Technology (BSIT) departments participated as donors.

“I’m so glad I came out to donate today,” said one participant. “It’s such a small thing to do, but it can make such a big difference in someone’s life.”

The organizers of the event were DMMMSU-MLUC trainers namely Mark Anthony C. Ochoa, Benjamin A. Villanueva, Melchor G. Guilanda, and Ronald Jonathan V. Bravo. They received support Chancellor Eduardo C. Corpuz, and Dr. Loida M. Faller (NSTP Director). The organizers were thrilled with the turnout and the generosity of the donors.

“We couldn’t have asked for a better response from our students,” said one organizer. “We hope to make this an annual event and continue to raise awareness about the importance of blood donations.”

Before the blood-letting activity, information drive on the services of Red Cross, and benefits of voluntary blood-letting as well as screening of donors were conducted. (By Arrianne Michelle Fabro)
