The Campus Extension Services Office of the South La Union Campus monitored the first quarter extension accomplishments of the colleges through table and onsite monitoring modalities on April 18, 2023. Headed by the Campus Extension Head, Mr. Ronald Bustos, the Office visited six colleges and monitored the January to March accomplishments of approved extension programs and projects.

Projects monitored through table monitoring are College of Arts and Sciences’ (CAS) COMMunity Ready, FUSION, Statistics, Research, and New Design Thinking (STRAND) under the Sipnayan Convergence Program, Bioliteracy Competency Training for Teachers, Tinungbo: Local Culture, Knowledge, and Identities Project, and SARITA: Socio Cultural and Language Proficiency.

The campus also monitored and provided guidance to the College of Community Health and Allied Medical Sciences’ Project CCHAMS, Project FAITH, Disaster Risk and Management, Adopt an Institution, and Health Awareness Program. In addition, the College of Graduate Studies banner extension program School and Teacher Enhancement Program (STEP) and its attached projects namely: SPORTS, SCIENCE, GUIDE, and IELTS- MOOC Facilitation were also monitored through the program chairs and project leaders. Plans, directions, and target outputs for the second quarter were also reiterated in the table monitoring activity.

Further, the extension head conducted onsite monitoring of the following: College of Education’s Skills Training Initiatives in Technology for Community and Home Economics (Project STITCh) with the local ALS coordinator and one participant at the Agoo East Central School; CAS’ SIPAG-ASA project at the PNP 2nd La Union Provincial Mobile Force Company Headquarters at Sta. Rita, Agoo, La Union; and College of Computer Science’ Systems Development, Implementation, and Consultancy Services for the Contactless Attendance Monitoring with SMS Notification System  at Sta. Teresa National High School, Tubao, La Union. Finally, the extension head visited one of the College of Agriculture’s Mushroom Production Training adopters at Lomboy, Sto. Tomas, La Union.

The monitoring activity aimed at evaluating the percentage of actual accomplishment against quarterly targets; reiterating the research basis of the extension programs, projects, and activities; and charting directions, identifying material needs, and thereby providing appropriate assistance.

The campus monitoring also aimed at preparing the extension workers for the university monitoring on June 22-23, 2023 and the annual Agency In House Review on June 28-30, 2023. (by RB)
