Masters of Information Technology (MIT) students brought home the Best Paper award during the 10th Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Research Congress: International Edition which was held at University of Makati on May 25 to 26, 2023.


The theme of the ICT Research Congress, Fostering Innovation in the HyFlex World through ICT Research Development, set the stage for presentations and discussions. This gathering of minds sought to explore how ICT can reshape the world, and drive groundbreaking advancements across various fields.
In addition, the Research Congress highlighted the potential of ICT research in fostering innovation within the HyFlex World. Among the contributors were students of MIT in the Mid La Union Campus. Taking the lead among the DMMMSU-MLUC participants was Kim Dave Rafael, who impressed the panel of judges with his presentation. His capacity to precisely communicate intricate concepts got him the best presenter.
Meanwhile, another MIT student, Ryan Jay Cuevas, stood out for his groundbreaking research on “VISUARICE: A Multi-platform Disease Detection of Rice Blast and Rice Blight,” which took home the award for the best paper. Mr. Cuevas’ study showcased a breakthrough in the field of agricultural technology. His work exemplified the transformative power of ICT research in addressing real-world challenges and fostering sustainable agricultural practices.
Another five students namely Ade John Gestole, Jonathan Cenezan, Denver Novencido, Edelvar Malamion, and John Ernest Catungal also presented their papers. Their contributions to the event enriched the discourse on ICT research development and reaffirmed the importance of collaboration and knowledge sharing in driving innovation forward.
