DMMMSU, being one of the National Commission on Indigenous People’s (NCIP) partners in promoting the interest and well-being of the Indigenous Cultural Communities / Indigenous Peoples (ICCs/IPs), received four sets of Epanaw Coffee Table Books (CTBs) at the Central Administration Building on September 15, 2023.

The Epanaw is one of the projects of the NCIP that produces CTBs. The word Epanaw is a Manobo term which means journey.

The following CTBs were turned over (in four sets):

  1. PAGKILALA (Recognize Indigenous Peoples and Ancestral Domains);
  2. PAGGALANG (Respect Justice Systems, Cultural Integrity, and Way of Life); and
  3. PAGTAGUYOD (Promote Tourism Destinations, Protected Areas, Critical Infrastructures, and Natural Resources in Ancestral Domains).

Atty. Marvin Biligan, NCIP Provincial Director and Mrs. Salud U. Dalog, NCIP La Union District 1 Community Development Officer III turned over the CTBs to DMMMSU.

Dr. Jaime I. Manuel, Jr., University President; Dr. Sonia B. Siago, Director for Library Services & Development and University’s Focal Person on Matters that Relate with the Affairs of the NCIP; Dr. Maria Elaine P. Boguen, Head of NLUC Extension Office received the books from the NCIP.
