DMMMSU GAD Unit hosted a university-wide Anti-Violence Against Women (VAW) Hybrid Seminar. Held onsite at the Open University System Multi-Purpose Hall, the campaign was also participated in by personnel from the various units in the University via Zoom.

Prof. Jacklyn C. Andrada, the University GAD Coordinator for Instruction, stated the purpose of the seminar. Dr. Luzviminda Salamanca, DOUS Head of Instruction, gave the Welcome Remarks on behalf of Dr. Bernardo D. Lamadrid, Executive Director, while Dr. Priscilo P. Fontanilla, Vice President for Planning and Resource Development, gave an inspiring message to the participants and encouraged them to foster an environment that respects women.
Atty. Honorio Buccat, Jr., the Dean of the College of Law, discussed Republic Act 9262 (Anti-Violence Against Women and their Children Act of 2004) and the Cyber Libel and Expanded Anti-Trafficking in Person Act. Meanwhile, Atty. Jonald F. Carrera, DOUS Legal Officer and Administrative Officer, discussed RA7877, the Anti-Sexual Harassment Act, and the Anti-Rape Law. An open forum after their talks allowed the participants to ask questions and clarifications.
For her closing remarks, Dr. Sherlyn Marie D. Nitura, the Director for Gender and Development, expressed her gratitude to the participants and speakers. The seminar was facilitated onsite by Prof. Ces Myra P. Mabalot, the Gender and Development Head of DOUS and the University GAD Coordinator for Research and Extension. (By Lara Althea B. Santos)
