President Jaime I. Manuel, Jr. presented DMMMSU’s highlights of accomplishments in administration and quality assurance, academic and internationalization, research, extension, and innovation, and planning and development during the University Celebration of the Foundation Anniversary, which was held at the South La Union Campus on January 15, 2024.

Before his presentation, he invited the DMMMSU community to reflect on DMMMSU’s myriad of milestones. “Our University’s narrative is one of resilience, dedication, and unyielding commitment to excellence. Each chapter of our history is etched with the tireless efforts of countless individuals who have selflessly left an enduring architectural and cultural legacy,” he remarked.

As for the accomplishments he presented under administration, he highlighted the PRIME-HRM Bronze Award, which he dedicated to the then Dr. Estrella N. Perez, who served as VP for Administration from February 8, 2019, to February 11, 2023, and who was also given a post-humus award.

Other accomplishments include:

  • The conduct of capacity-building activities to ensure high administrative efficiency, productivity, and effectiveness; and
  • The incentives given to DMMMSU employees which include the 58.5% of employees’ monthly basic salary for their Performance-based Bonus, the Collective Negotiation Agreement incentive amounting to P26 500.00, and the Service Recognition Incentive amounting to P20 000. 00.

Under academic and international affairs, he highlighted the following:

  • DMMMSU’s 3 Stars from Quacquarelli Symonds (QS),
  • DMMMSU’s ranks in the World University Rankings — 42nd among the World University Rankings for Innovation in the 4th Industrial Revolution, 51 – 100 among the World University Rankings for Innovation in Industrial Application, 51 – 100 among the World University Rankings for Innovation in Crisis Management, 201 – 300 among the World University Rankings for Innovation,
  • DMMMSU’s 20 Level IV Re-accredited Academic Programs,
  • The five Centers of Development,
  • 110 academic programs,
  • 100 % CGS academic programs compliant with CMO # 15, s. 2019 and approved by the Board of Regents with BOR Resolution # 2023-803 and BOR RES. #2023-804, and contents noted by CHED,
  • The College of Engineering named as the Most Outstanding Mechanical Engineering School in North Luzon in 2023,
  • The three best programs based on their performance in the licensure exams, namely 1) Bachelor of Science in Criminology (MLUC’s Institute of Criminal Justice Education), 2) Bachelor of Science in Agriculture (NLUC’s College of Agriculture), and 3) Bachelor of Science in Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering (NLUC’s Institute of Agriculture and Biosystems Engineering),
  • The six top notchers in the licensure examinations,
  • 251 reclassified faculty members,
  • Faculty members and staff who finished their courses through the Faculty and Staff Development Programs,
  • Students and faculty members who participated in international mobility programs, and
  • International partners and collaborations.

Under research, innovation, publication, and extension, he presented the following:

  • A total research fund of P49, 980, 704. 33,
  • Research publication, innovation, and intellectual property rights incentives given amounting to P 1, 396, 281.70,
  • Research publications in Web of Science and Scopus-indexed journals,
  • Citations, intellectual property rights registrations, and filed Ips for registration,
  • International Conference organized,
  • Extension projects consistent with the SUC’s mandated and priority programs and
  • Clients served and trained.

Under planning and development, President Manuel highlighted the following:

  • The approval of the Revised Organizational Structure through BOR Resolution No. 2023-797,
  • The approval of the DMMMSU Land Use and Development and Infrastructure Plan 2021-2030 through BOR Resolution No. 2023-823,
  • The completed infrastructure projects amounting to P 268, 298, 800. 00,
  • The ongoing projects, with a total budget allocation of P 382, 329, 000. 00, and
  • The projects for implementation in 2024, with a budget allocation of P382, 382, 000. 00.

President Manuel President concluded his presentation of DMMMSU’s highlights of accomplishments by emphasizing the College of Medicine as his legacy during his first term.  (By Ayu)
