DMMMSU has been extended an invitation by the British Council in the Philippines to participate in a Partners Gathering and Inaugural Study UK Almuni Awards and reception dinner at the Blue Leaf Events Pavilion (Banyan), McKinley Hill Village, Taguig City on February 16, 2024.
Vice President for Academic and International Affairs Dr. Elsie M. Pacho, and University Director for International Affairs Dr. Jesus Rafael B. Jarata represented DMMMSU at the event aimed at fostering collaboration and networking among educational institutions in the Philippines and their international counterparts
The invitation underscores the recognition of DMMMSU’s commitment to global engagement and academic excellence. As a leading institution in the region, DMMMSU has been actively involved in various international initiatives, including student exchange programs, research collaborations, and faculty development opportunities.
In 2021, DMMMSU was among the 17 SUCs in the country and the only SUC in Region 1 to have been selected as a grantee-recipient for the English-medium education and internationalization training under the ‘Access and Competitiveness through Internationalization of Higher Education (ACT-IHE)’ Project.
Three DMMMSU faculty members were sent for a virtual four-month training to the University of Southampton in the United Kingdom, and after that, cascaded training in 2022 to other HEIs in the region as part of their return service to sustain and scale out the project benefits. The ACT-IHE project is the new flagship program of the British Council in partnership with the Commission on Higher Education that aims to strengthen the quality of English as a medium of instruction (EME) in Higher Education Institutions (HEI), thus strengthening the internationalization-at-home strategies of the participating institutions.
The British Council in the Philippines has been a loyal partner of DMMMSU— providing technical support and mentorship. During the DMMMSU IZN Festival, the BC Education Manager also served as a resource speaker for partnerships and linkages. (By Jesus Rafael B. Jarata)
