DMMMSU-SLUC College of Fisheries hosted an awareness seminar last February 28, 2024. Themed “Empowering a Drug-Free Campus and Lifestyle”, the event was participated in by the students, faculty, and staff of the college.

The seminar which was initiated by the Student Body Organization featured key speakers who shared insights on spiritual well-being and legal consequences of drug abuse. Pastor Joseph Q. Florendo opened the seminar with a discourse on “Spirituality: Deepening the Meaning and Purpose in Life,” connecting spiritual wellness to the broader context of drug-free living.

Following Pastor Florendo’s talk, Atty. Samuel P. Poking Jr. from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Region 1 elucidated the Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Abuse Act of 2002. He specifically focused on Article II – Unlawful Acts and Penalties.

Meanwhile, PDEA’s Admin Officer V, Mr. Bismarck L. Bengwayan, in his address, reiterated the crucial role that student councils and campus organizations play in bolstering the campaign against drug abuse, underlining the collective effort required to maintain a drug-free campus.
