The Bachelor of Technology and Livelihood Education (BTLEd) of the College of Education of the South La Union Campus hosted the annual Skills Olympics with the theme “Building Resilience Through Technical Literacy and Collaborative Innovation,” showcasing the different technical and vocational skills of high school students from across the Province of La Union on March 18, 2024.
The sixteen (16) high schools with 102 participants participated in various competitions, namely, Poster Making, Electrical Installation and Maintenance, Dish Gardening, Table Skirting, Food and Vegetable Carving, Flower Arrangement, Hair and Make-up Contest, Cake Decoration, and Computer System Servicing. The faculty members served as lead facilitators in the competitions with the officers of D’ Economist League and the BTLEd students.
In the opening ceremony, Dr. Veronica C. Carbonell, the Program Chair of BTLEd, marked that the Skills Olympics was the dream of the BTLEd Department.
Experts in the different technical and vocational skills served as members of the jury. Winners and runners-up were recognized during the awarding ceremonies.
