The Philippine Association of State Universities and Colleges I (PASUC-1) Culture and Arts Festival 2024 officially opened this morning at DMMMSU Mid-La Union Campus today, March 20, 2024.
Day 1 of the festival opened with a parade of artists and delegates from the five (5) State Universities in Region I.
During the Opening Program, DMMMSU President Dr. Jaime I. Manuel, Jr. welcomed the delegates and exhorted the participants.
“[SUC Presidents] join me in challenging you that you compete for three days, but after this, you will unite as one to represent Region 1 at the National PASUC Culture and the Arts Festival this coming April.”
To add vibrance to the program, the DMMMSU Kawayan Ensemble rendered an intermission with their anklung. This was followed by the presentation of delegates by SUC Cultural Directors.
Meanwhile, La Union Governor Hon. Raphaelle Veronica “Raffy” Ortega-David graced the program, welcomed the delegates from Region 1 Provinces, and inspired them with a message of healing “of wounds inflicted by adversities,’ of rising “from the depths of despair,” of moving forward “with determination and resolve.” Hon. Ortega was represented by Mr. Eleazar Belgica, her Executive Assistant.
Following Gov. Ortega’s address, the candidates for Mr. and Ms. PASUC 2024 simultaneously received their sashes. After this, Dr. Rodelio V. Indong, DMMMSU Cultural Director, read the schedule of activities.
