Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University (DMMMSU), through the Office of International Affairs, hosted the webinar series “Talks across the Globe: Women Empowering Women – Internationalization Insights from Leading Voices Across Borders,” on March 20, 2024.

The event, which aims to provide a platform for sharing insights and experiences, featured speakers from various fields. Dr. Rotjaret Narongrach, from the Communication Arts program of Walailak University (Thailand), contributed insights into the intersection of politics and gender. Likewise, Capt. Joyce Agcon, Flight Instructor and Private and Commercial Pilot Holder from the WCC Aeronautical and Technological College brought her expertise from the realm of aviation with a focus on women pilots. Her talk on “Women in Aerospace: Reshaping Gender in Airline Industries” discussed how women could change the future of the aviation industry, creating an entirely new breadth of aerospace flying and engineering.

Further enriching the discourse, Ms. Fatima M. Moncada, a Science Research Specialist from the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS), offered her perspectives on scientific endeavors. Her lecture underscored the role of women as powerful agents of change in relation to disaster risk reduction and women’s indigenous knowledge of climate change and disaster. Ms. Jhonilyn Q. Flores, International Affairs Coordinator for Foreign Teachers at the Chonburi Technological College (Thailand), shared her experiences in language education, offering a unique perspective on cultural exchange and communication.

Moreover, the participants benefited from the expertise of a business management expert from EIILM Kolkata, India, Prof. Dr. Suman Kumar Dawn, who provided invaluable insights into leadership and entrepreneurship in a global context and delved into overcoming gender bias in the workplace.

The event underscores DMMMSU’s commitment to fostering international dialogue and promoting gender equality through education and collaboration.
