Bacnotan, La Union registered 247 IPs. Taytay, Rizal, the top 1, registered 524 while Cainta, Rizal, the top 2, registered 349.

“CMCI is the most comprehensive annual ranking of Local Government Units (LGU’s) in the Philippines, at the provincial, city, and municipal levels, based on the data on economic dynamism, government efficiency, resiliency, infrastructure, and innovation gathered and processed by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) to determine the levels of competitiveness.”

IPs are under the innovation pillar, which refers to the ability of a locality to harness its creative potential to improve or sustain current levels of productivity.

To date, the Philippines has surpassed the expected level of innovation output based on its inputs and GDP per capita, and La Union ranks 7th among the 82 municipalities in the Philippines based on CMCI. (By Ayu)
