
DMMMSU extended support to Lorma Colleges (LC) in a collaborative benchmarking initiative to enhance LC’s application for the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Ranking 2025.
With the program titled “Amplifying Impact: Unlocking DMMMSU’s Best Practices in Times Higher Education Impact Rankings”, DMMMSU welcomed officials from LC which included Dr. Diadema B. La Madrid, Ms. Reinalyn Bucsit, Ms. Adrienne Paola Grace Dacanay and Ms. Neferthea Quinquito at the DMMMSU Central Administration on June 25, 2024. DMMMSU shared with LC strategies for aligning with global sustainability goals, a critical component of the THE Impact Rankings.
Dr. Jesus Rafael B. Jarata, University Director for International Affairs and one of the THE 2024 focal persons, provided insights into the institution’s meticulous approach to data collection for its Impact Ranking Application. He elaborated on DMMMSU’s comprehensive strategies to compile and present robust data that highlights the university’s contributions to sustainable development goals.
Dr. Faith S. Tadeo, Dean of the College of Fisheries and the SDG 14 focal person emphasized the importance of aligning data collection methods with THE Impact Rankings criteria, which assess universities based on their performance in areas such as research on sustainability, community engagement, and environmental stewardship.
SDG 14 focuses on conserving and sustainably using the oceans, seas, and marine resources for sustainable development. Dr. Tadeo’s team has taken a proactive approach to ensure comprehensive data collection in alignment with this goal.
DMMMSU has recently achieved significant recognition in the Times Higher Education (THE) 2024. It has been ranked 1st in the region for SDG 14: Life Below Water for 2024. DMMMSU is ranked 6th in the Philippines— highlighting its dedication to marine conservation. The university’s top position underscores its effective efforts in advancing sustainable management of marine resources, protecting coastal ecosystems, and combating marine pollution.
