Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University (DMMMSU) was recognized as an Outstanding Development Partner by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) during the celebration of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprise Development (MSED) Week at La Union Convention Center, City of San Fernando, La Union on July 19, 2024.

This recognition underscores DMMMSU’s significant effort in implementing the “Technology Transfer in the Production of Solar Sea Salt using High-Density Polyethylene Platform” and its crucial role in enhancing access to technology and innovation. As a result of this achievement, DMMMSU has been chosen as the provincial nominee for the 2024 Presidential Recognition of Outstanding Development Partners.
The project’s primary goal was to revitalize the salt-making industry in La Union and create alternative or additional livelihood opportunities for the coastal communities in the province and other coastal municipalities in the Philippines. The initiative was implemented by the NLUC-Fisheries Research and Training Institute, under the leadership of Dr. Andie John D. Tadeo.
Dr. Junifer E. Tabafunda, Chancellor of DMMMSU-North La Union Campus, received the plaque of appreciation on behalf of the university.
