Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University (DMMMSU) conducted a workshop on February 27-28, 2025, at the Fisheries Research Training Institute (FRTI) in Paraoir, Balaoan, La Union, to identify key programs and projects for submission to the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) for the 2026 fiscal year.

The workshop was led by Prof. Mary Jane B. Dulay, University Director of Infrastructure Planning and Development, with the assistance of Prof. Charlie C. Key university personnel, including Campus Heads for Institutional Planning and Futures Thinking, the University Architect, Civil Engineer, Campus Engineers, and Draftsmen, participated in the collaborative effort.

The workshop resulted in the identification of 65 priority programs and projects, with a proposed budget of Php 2,046,939,000 (two billion forty-six million nine hundred thirty-nine thousand pesos). These projects cover essential areas of development for the university.

The 37 infrastructure projects include the construction/completion of academic and administrative buildings, research laboratories, multi-purpose facilities, dormitories, and improvements to utility systems and road networks. Also, 28 projects are focused on acquiring and installing machinery, equipment, and technology to support academic, research, and administrative functions.

The session concluded with the formal presentation of these identified projects by each operating unit. The proposed projects will enhance DMMMSU’s facilities. The final list will be submitted to DBM for consideration in the 2026 budget cycle. (By Marissa Fangon)
