The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC), through the Professional Regulatory Board of Fisheries Technology, conducted an official inspection and monitoring visit to the College of Fisheries on April 2, 2025.

Prior to the visit, PRB-Fisheries Technology outlined the university’s obligations in preparation for the evaluation. The visit, which was conducted in a blended format, was part of the Board’s mandate to uphold educational and professional standards in fisheries technology institutions.

Among those that the team evaluated were the University’s organizational structure, functional objectives, faculty qualifications, course outlines, student population, facilities, and professional credentials of personnel. They also assessed the safety and waste management manuals of the institute.

The inspection aimed to assess the compliance of the University’s B.S. Fisheries program with regulatory standards in areas such as aquatic ecology, aquaculture, capture fisheries, and post-harvest fisheries.

Dr. Faith Tadeo, Dean of the College of Fisheries; Dr. Andie John Tadeo, Director for Fisheries Research and Training Institute; along with Dr. Reginor Lyzza A. Roque, Program Chair of MS Fisheries; Ms. Aphrodite S. Entoma, Program Chair of BS Fisheries, welcomed the monitoring and inspection team led by PRB-FIS Chairperson Hon. Westly R. Rosario, Board Member Hon. Catalino R. Dela Cruz, and PRC Region 1 representative Mr. Glenn V. Marzan.

During the closing program, RRB-FIS presented the findings and recommendations. Dean Tadeo expressed commitment to implementing necessary improvements to enhance the fisheries program. (By Ayu)
