DMMMSU, through its College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) at the North La Union Campus, and Daffodil International University (DIU) from Bangladesh, met at the DMMMSU International Convention Center to plan a Media Literacy Program on April 11, 2025.
The session, called “From Conversation to Collaboration,” opened discussions on possible joint projects between the two universities.
Dr. Jesus Rafael B. Jarata, Director of International Affairs at DMMMSU; Dr. Aisha N. Sevilleja, Dean of CAS; and Dr. Rhoda M. Lilan, Head of International Affairs of the North La Union Campus, joined the meeting. DIU was represented by Prof. Aftab Hossain, Head of Journalism, Media, and Communication, along with three of his students.
Faculty members from the BA English Language Program of CAS also joined the discussions, focusing on media literacy, critical thinking, and global citizenship among students.
They shared ideas and practices and discussed plans for future programs that would promote intercultural dialogue and strengthen students’ digital skills.
The meeting ended with both groups expressing interest in working together, hoping to build a strong partnership for future academic projects. (By Rochelle Verganio)
