Dr. Genevieve Cadaoas, Head for Quality Assurance at the Open University System (OUS) of DMMMSU, has been officially appointed as the Regional Focal Point for Asia to the International Council for Open and Distance Education (ICDE) Quality Committee. The appointment, announced in a formal letter dated April 29, 2025, will take effect from May 2025 and extend through May 2027.

Dr. Cadaoas has consistently demonstrated expertise in and a commitment to educational quality, inclusivity, and innovation. Her leadership in developing the DOUS Quality Assurance Framework and promoting a learner-centered, outcomes-based approach to distance learning has earned national and now global recognition.

As a Regional Focal Point, Dr. Cadaoas will represent Asia in the ICDE Quality Committee’s strategic and collaborative efforts. Her role involves contributing to reports and communication materials, participating in 4–6 virtual engagements annually, and representing the ICDE in international events. She will also play a vital role in shaping the ICDE Strategic Plan 2025–2028 and Activity Plan 2025–2026 alongside other regional representatives.

Founded in 1938 and headquartered in Oslo, Norway, the International Council for Open and Distance Education (ICDE) is a leading global membership organization that promotes accessible, inclusive, and quality education through open, distance, flexible, and online learning. The ICDE Quality Committee provides expert guidance to uphold and advance educational standards worldwide.

Dr. Cadaoas’ appointment is both a personal milestone and a proud moment for DMMMSU, signaling the University’s growing influence in the global dialogue on open and distance education. With a leadership style grounded in collaboration, Dr. Cadaoas envisions ensuring equitable representation and promoting the voices of diverse educational communities across Asia.
