The MS Fisheries Program of DMMMSU underwent a technical panel assessment on July 15, 2025.

The evaluation was conducted by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Regional Office I to ensure the program’s compliance with national academic standards and its alignment with current developments in fisheries science and industry practices.
Atty. Dessa Estrada, Education Supervisor II of CHED RO1, led the assessment, which focused on program outcomes, faculty credentials, research productivity, and available facilities. She highlighted the need for strong institutional commitment to producing graduates capable of addressing the region’s aquatic and fisheries resource challenges.
Also part of the assessment panel was Ms. Diody Quimno, Senior Aquaculturist from the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources – Region I (BFAR RO1), who evaluated the program’s responsiveness to the demands and priorities of the regional fisheries and aquaculture sector.
The assessment forms part of DMMMSU’s broader efforts to ensure quality education and continuous improvement of its academic programs, particularly in support of sustainable fisheries development in the Ilocos Region. (By Ayu/Maricon C. Viduya)
