Eight academic programs of Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University (DMMMSU) South-La Union Campus have been granted Level IV Re-accredited status by the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines, Inc. (AACCUP), the highest level of accreditation awarded by the agency.
In a letter addressed to DMMMSU President Dr. Jaime I. Manuel, Jr., dated May 7, 2025, AACCUP confirmed that the programs successfully complied with the mandatory recommendations after an evaluation conducted on February 6, 2025. The re-accreditation will be valid from February 16, 2025, until February 15, 2030. Seven of the programs are under the College of Education and one is under the College of Arts and Sciences.
The following programs have achieved Level IV Re-accreditation:
- Bachelor of Culture and Arts Education
- Bachelor of Early Childhood Education
- Bachelor of Elementary Education
- Bachelor of Physical Education
- Bachelor of Secondary Education (Majors in English, Filipino, Social Studies, Science, Mathematics)
- Bachelor of Special Needs Education
- Bachelor of Technology and Livelihood Education (Majors in Agri-Fishery Arts, Information and Communication Technology, and Home Economics)
- Bachelor of Science in Psychology
Level IV is the highest accreditation status granted by AACCUP, indicating excellence in instruction, research, extension, and linkages, as well as institutional qualifications and outcomes-based education. Programs that reach this level demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement and are considered models for other institutions.
AACCUP’s accreditation process includes rigorous evaluation criteria across multiple areas, including curriculum and instruction, faculty qualifications, research and extension services, support to students, and physical facilities.
Executive Director Dr. Milabel E. Ho commended the University’s commitment to quality assurance and urged continued efforts to prepare for future evaluations. The accreditation status not only reflects DMMMSU’s academic credibility but also enhances the employability of its graduates and opens doors for international academic collaborations. (By Ayu)
