Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University (DMMMSU) actively participated in the Third Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) today, September 7, 2023. Organized by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) through the Office of Civil Defense, the drill aimed to reinforce earthquake preparedness among the Filipino populace, including educational institutions and government offices.

The drill witnessed the concerted efforts of faculty members, staff, and students across all campuses of DMMMSU. Participants engaged in a rigorous execution of the “Duck, Cover, and Hold” technique, followed by a systematic evacuation of buildings. The exercise also included an evaluation of the university’s emergency response capabilities, supervised by the University’s Disaster Risk Reduction and Management team.
This event is part of a series of NSEDs scheduled throughout the year, aimed at promoting a culture of preparedness for natural disasters, particularly earthquakes. DMMMSU’s participation reaffirms the university’s commitment to fostering a safe and prepared community in the face of potential calamities. As seismic events become increasingly unpredictable due to climate change and tectonic shifts, initiatives like NSED serve as critical measures in enhancing disaster readiness on a national scale.
