On September 19-20, 2023, the Consortium of Open and Distance Education Providers in the Philippines (CODEPP) convened at the Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University Open University System (DOUS) in San Fernando City, La Union to push forward open and distance education in the country.
During the meeting, a Strategic Planning Workshop was held to bolster the Capacity Building Program aimed at securing CHED Accreditation for Distance Education, a pivotal step in the evolution of distance learning in the Philippines.
CODEPP boasts a robust roster of members:

• Central Luzon State University
• Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University
• Ifugao State University
• Mariano Marcos State University
• John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University – Arevalo, Inc.
• UP Open University (UPOU)
The mission of CODEPP is to champion the cause of open and distance education, making quality learning accessible to all while ensuring it meets the rigorous standards set by the Commission on Higher Education or CHED.
This initiative aligns seamlessly with Sustainable Development Goals, emphasizing quality education for all and strengthening partnerships to achieve these objectives.
The gathering had been productive, with discussions presided over by Dr. Melinda Bandalaria, UPOU Chancellor.
A special edition of Kapihan sa DMMMSU ensued with Dr. Bandalaria as the guest who shared about the state of open distance education in the Philippines.
