With the University Sports and Cultural Olympics 2023 scheduled tomorrow, the South La Union Campus (SLUC) applied the final touches to its preparations. The three-day event, scheduled from November 29 to December 1, 2023, will be hosted in SLUC. Promising an exhilarating showcase of power and grace, the event will bring together top athletes and artists from North La Union Campus (NLUC), Mid La Union Campus (MLUC), and DMMMSU Open University (DOUS), alongside the host campus.
The parade featuring the delegates from the competing campuses starts in front of the JDA Hall at 7:00 AM. The SLUC Binary Beats, under the direction of Dr. Agustin Veras, will lead the parade. The opening ceremony, slated to begin at 8:00 AM, will include performances by the DMMMSU Chorale under Prof. Renan Flores. The ceremony will be graced with opening remarks from SLUC Chancellor Dr. Joanne C. Rivera and the formal declaration of the event’s commencement by DMMMSU President Dr. Jaime L. Manuel, Jr.
The opening ceremony will highlight the DMMMSU Cheer Dance competition, setting the stage for three days of diverse sporting events encompassing individual, team, and allied games and e-sports.
The third day will focus on cultural activities, with competitions in musical, dance, and visual arts, as well as performances in various arts. The day will also feature the much-anticipated Search for Mr. and Ms. DMMMSU PASUC 2023.
The University Olympics emphasizes sportsmanship and student camaraderie, offering a platform for athletes to display their skills. Winners from this event will represent the university at the upcoming State Colleges and University Athletic Association I Meet, which DMMMSU is set to host next year. (By Zander Christopher Mercado)
