To help uplift local communities, the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) – La Union partnered with Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University (DMMMSU) to conduct a training workshop on Project CEST (Community Empowerment through Science and Technology) known as the Accelerating Community Academics through Development (ACAD) Project for 31 Department of Education teachers from Aringay and Santo Tomas, La Union.

The training workshop featured lectures delivered by faculty members of the North La Union Campus (NLUC). Mr. Raymund A. Sanchez talked on Google Workspace Tools; Ms. Vernalyn O. Munar had a session on Digital Game-based Learning; and Mr. Genesis C. Omo discussed Basic Computer Maintenance: Software/Hardware Troubleshooting.
The training, enriched by DMMMSU’s experts, continued with Ms. Kathy D. Sanchez’s lecture on Instructional Strategy Selection and Dr. Rowena D. Carreon’s lecture on Interactive and Forward-Thinking Instructional Strategies.

On the final day, Dr. Estrella L. Viste lectured on non-digital material learning, and Dr. Elma S. Ocampo lectured on 21st-century educational resource development.
The participants engaged in a workshop where they applied the knowledge they acquired from the lectures.
Beneficiaries of this joint effort by DOST and DMMMSU expressed positive feedback on the training and their gratitude for the opportunity provided for them. They acknowledged the effort made by the organizers and lecturers. The teachers particularly appreciated the innovative teaching methods and practical applications presented during the training.
