DMMMSU has achieved significant recognition in the Times Higher Education (THE) 2024 SDG Impact Rankings, reflecting its strong commitment to sustainable development goals (SDGs) in the Philippines. DMMMSU has been ranked 1st in the region for SDG 14: Life Below Water for 2024. DMMMSU is ranked 6th in the Philippines— highlighting its dedication to marine conservation. The university’s top position underscores its effective efforts in advancing sustainable management of marine resources, protecting coastal ecosystems, and combating marine pollution.

The institution’s success in SDG 14 is attributed to the initiatives of Tanggol Kalikasan, the Fisheries Research and Training Institute, and the College of Fisheries. These entities have been instrumental in conducting focused research, launching educational initiatives, and undertaking direct actions to address critical issues such as unregulated fishing, ocean acidification, and the preservation of marine biodiversity.

The university’s notable rankings in the SDG 1: No Poverty category, securing 1st place in Region 1 and 13th place nationwide, are a testament to its significant efforts in poverty alleviation and community development. By focusing on initiatives that address the root causes of poverty, the university has implemented various programs aimed at improving the quality of life for underprivileged communities.
