Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University (DMMMSU) joined the Second Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) held on Friday, June 28, at 2 p.m. as part of the government’s efforts to prepare the public for the “Big One.”

During the drill, students and teaching and non-teaching staff from the different campuses and units of the university practiced the Duck, Cover, and Hold procedure. Demonstration and discussion were also done after the simulation. In the Central Administration Building, casualties were sent to the nearest district hospital.

The Office of Civil Defense (OCD) encourages the public to participate in these drills to ensure earthquake safety in the event of a 7.2 magnitude earthquake due to the movement of the West Valley Fault. This earthquake is predicted to impact Metro Manila and nearby provinces of Central Luzon and CALABARZON. (by John Mark Lachica)
