Ellaine Rose M. Lobrin, DMMMSU Kuwerdas Apprentice Conductor, has been selected to join the Kuwerdas Filipinas Symphonic Rondalla for its upcoming nationwide tour in September 2024. The tour is part of the Strings of Unity: International Rondalla/ Plucked String Music Festival’s 20th anniversary celebration, themed “Diwang: Musika ng Rondalla, Musika ng Pagkakaisa.”

Lobrin will perform in Dumaguete City, Silay City, and Tagum City from September 8 to 22, 2024. Her selection for the prestigious ensemble only shows her exceptional musical talent and contributions to the local music circuit.

Launched in 2004, Strings of Unity has been instrumental in promoting and developing rondalla music domestically and internationally. The festival has brought together over 50 rondalla groups from the Philippines and 20 countries worldwide (Australia, China, France, India, Indonesia, Iran, Israel, Japan, Mexico, Myanmar, Portugal, Russia, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Uganda, USA, Vietnam, and the Philippines).

The Kuwerdas Filipinas Symphonic Rondalla, established in 2018, is the Philippines’ first professional rondalla ensemble composed of top-tier musicians from across the country. The group aims to elevate and professionalize the rondalla to the same level of prestige as the orchestra.

Currently, Lobrin is a 4th year Bachelor of Culture and Arts Education at DMMMSU-SLUC College of Education, Agoo, La Union. (by John Mark Lachica)
