Mr. Christian Montemayor, faculty member at Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University – South La Union Campus (DMMMSU-SLUC), completed the Asian Productivity Organization’s (APO) eLearning course on Performance Management Systems in the Public Sector on February 8, 2025.
The course, jointly organized by the APO and the Center of Excellence (COE) on Public-Sector Productivity, aims to enhance institutional effectiveness and service delivery across the Asia-Pacific region. It focused on equipping public-sector institutions with strategic tools for performance improvement, including performance evaluation frameworks, citizen-driven metrics, and the use of planning and control cycles to achieve better outcomes.
Montemayor was among the participants who completed the comprehensive online modules, which featured lectures from governance and productivity experts such as Peter Dan Baon, Program Director of the COE at the Development Academy of the Philippines (DAP); Magdalena L. Mendoza, DAP Senior Vice-President; and Monica D. Saliendres, Director of DAP’s Productivity Development Research Office.
Participants who achieved a score of 70% or higher in the final exam received certificates from the APO. High-performing participants, including Montemayor, are also eligible for priority selection in future face-to-face multicountry APO projects, subject to nomination by their respective National Productivity Organizations.
Established in 1961, the APO comprises 21 member economies and has been a leading advocate of productivity and innovation in the region. Its initiatives support sustainable socioeconomic development through training, research, and technical advisory services.
The completion of this course reflects APO’s continuing mission to strengthen public-sector governance through evidence-based performance management strategies. (By Aniway P. Millares)
