The Sericulture Research and Development Institute (SRDI) of Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University (DMMMSU) launched its 33rd Foundation Anniversary at the Ortega Memorial Center on April 29, 2025, with a day of festivities.
Themed “Hawaiian,” the celebration pooled together SRDI employees and retirees for a day of Zumba, socialization, and thanksgiving. The morning began with a lively Zumba session, where prizes were awarded for Best Attire and Best Performance.
The afternoon program featured a Thanksgiving and Tribute Ceremony honoring SRDI retirees. SRDI Executive Director Dr. Cristeta F. Gapuz welcomed participants, emphasizing the importance of shared milestones and teamwork. Retired division chiefs Dr. Gerry Dacayanan and Dr. Lilia Ancheta also delivered messages, encouraging continued growth and innovation in sericulture research.
A unit presentation contest was held, with the Fourth Instar Unit winning Best Performance and the Administration Unit receiving Best Group Attire. Retirees served as judges for the contests, which also included awards for Best Hawaiian Outfit.
The celebration concluded with games and closing remarks from Dr. Elizabeth Obra, SRDI Non-Teaching Association President, who thanked organizers and participants, expressing hope for continued camaraderie in future anniversaries.
