The Northern Chorus, the student choir of DMMMSU North La Union Campus, has been ranked 289th among the top 1000 choirs in the INTERKULTUR World Rankings.
Since its establishment in 1988, INTERKULTUR has brought together more than 10,500 choirs and over 450,000 singers from around the world. The global rankings are determined through a comprehensive points system that has evaluated choral achievements since 2000, taking into account performances across a range of categories including youth, folk, sacred, jazz, and others.
Recently, Northern Chorus earned Gold Diploma Awards at the 8th Vietnam International Choir Competition 2025, where they performed in Youth Choirs of Mixed Voices (Level III) and Folklore (Level II) categories.
In 2024, they collaborated with the Philippine Madrigal Singers during the Banaag concert tour and secured second place in the La Union Artistry Festival’s Dalleng Chorale Competition.
The choir is led by Danreve Leo Gamboa, whose guidance and expertise have been instrumental in the ensemble’s recent successes on the international stage. (By Gloeduard G. Milanes)
