The DMMMSU research team behind the CHED-commissioned project, “Empowering Equity Target Students: Enhancing Access and Success in State Universities and Colleges across Regions I, VIII, and XII, Philippines,” presented the outcomes of their work today at the DMMMSU-NLUC International Convention Center. The project focuses on improving educational opportunities and support systems for students from diverse backgrounds.
The event served as a platform to disseminate comprehensive research findings, encompassing both qualitative insights and quantitative data. Professor Keneth Bayani introduced a new, streamlined admission form, directly developed as a result of the project’s investigative work. Adding to the critical policy discussions, Dr. Emmanuel J. Songcuan presented a set of proposed admission, retention, and completion policies. These meticulously crafted policies are designed to bridge existing educational gaps, with a particular emphasis on ensuring equitable access, sustained support, and successful graduation for Ethnically Targeted Groups (ETGs).
A total of 92 stakeholders from across DMMMSU’s campuses participated, including College Deans, Institute Directors, Program Chairs, representatives from Student Affairs Services (SAS) and Student Admission and Records (SAR), student regents, and student leaders. Their involvement signals a shared commitment to advancing student success through research-based strategies. (By Cyntarah Zandy B. Advincula)
