Engr. Rubelyn V. Delfin and Engr. Rowel M. Munar, IP-TBM staff successfully finished the 3rd IP Master Class Mentorship Series conducted virtually. The training was scheduled on the following dates this year: July 20-24, August 10-14 (non-chemical)/August 17-21, (chemical), September 14-18, (non-chemical)/September 21-25, (chemical), and October 12-15.


The two engineers finished 5 modules for the course. The first 2 modules were discussed by the mentor agency, Mariano Marcos State University, and the last 3 modules were discussed by the Association of Patent Agent Qualifying Examination (PAQE) Professionals, Inc. They were required to take pre and post-tests, finish requirements (activities) and accomplish examination for each module. Also, they were exposed to the different statutory classes of intellectual property, prior art search, invention spotting, drafting specification for patent, claim drafting, replying office actions for Substantive Examination Reports (SER) and Formality Examination Reports (FER), applying request for IPs through online using the apps e-services in the Intellectual property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL) and the Amended Manual for Patent Examination.
Virtual graduation which was attended in by heads of DOST, PCAARRD, IPOPHL, and PAQE Inc. was held yesterday, October 23, 2020. Sixty participants from the different Consortia Member Agencies of SUCs throughout the country satisfactorily completed the training.

Training finance for the 2 IP-TBM staff was sourced from the on-going 2 year special projects “Support to the University’s Strategies in Technology Acceleration Initiatives by Nurturing (SUSTAIN) the Intellectual Property and Technology Business Management (IP-TBM) Offices of the Consortia Member Agencies (Phase II)” with project component “Enhancing Technology Transfer through IP-TBM in Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University (DMMMSU)” funded by Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development (DOST-PCAARRD) which started this year.
