To collaboratively address the global challenges in higher learning amid the pandemic, DMMMSU accepted five exchange students from Universitas PGRI Semarang (UPGRIS), Indonesia to enroll subjects in the BS Psychology program for one semester.

This time, DMMMSU and UPGRIS embark on another academic collaboration through an online international credit transfer program— with five BS Guidance and Counseling students from UPGRIS attending four BS Psychology classes via virtual modality. They are Annisa Fitriani, Arum Hidaya Roosyiana, Khana Nadira Yiliana, Melia Erba Robani and Primela Mutiara Sani Nova.
These Indonesian students involved in the international program are taking subjects in Entrepreneurial Mind, Social Psychology, Introduction to Counseling and Group Dynamics. They are attending synchronous and asynchronous classes in SLUC and MLUC from September to December 2021.
Although this year’s program is conducted through a virtual platform, they hope to form academic networks and friendship with their Filipino classmates— as two of their classes are mixed with DMMMSU students in a regular schedule. The other two subjects are set up exclusively for them.
During the Onboarding/Orientation Program on August 18, 2021, DMMMSU President Dr. Jaime I. Manuel, Jr. welcomed the UPGRIS students and officials— and said that he is happy UPGRIS has chosen DMMMSU to be its partner in this educational journey.
“You will join and virtually participate in a community of students and faculty members where we seek to share and develop broad cultural understanding and a more complete view of the world around us,” Dr. Manuel said.
Meanwhile, Dr. Sri Suchiati, M. Hum., Vice Rector 1 of UPGRIS, mentioned that despite the closure of schools amid the COVID-19 outbreak, the “UPGRIS community believes that this collaboration could further international goodwill”.
Dr. Zenaida D. Pascua, Ms. Yezza E. Sindayen, and Mr. Mark Joshua L. Labarentos (SLUC), and Prof. Eunice Palomo (MLUC) serve as course instructors/professors of the Indonesian students. This is the second time UPGRIS coordinates with DMMMSU for a joint curriculum credit transfer with the first which was on face-to-face mode in 2019. Three English language students and three mathematics students from UPGRIS were part of the said program. (Jesus Rafael Jarata)
